Year 9 Biology

In year 9 all students will study at least some components of the QCA scheme of work (detailed below) to further their knowledge gained in previous Key Stage 3 study.  The very top sets will only study one of these components before embarking on studies for their GCSE's in separate sciences, probably Module 9A.
Students in year 9 study these Modules in Biology:-

9A Inheritance and selection

9B Fit and healthy

9C Plants and photosynthesis

9D Plants for food

Following the completion of these Modules students sit an Exploring Science End of Topic test and are given both a score (out of 25) and an estimated level for their result.

Prior to the SATS exams students revise these topic above and complete further Sc1 Scientific Investigations.

Post SATS there are a range of activities planned and students may start study of the Year 10 Module 2 (Understanding our environment).
