History
Course Details
History at Post 16 looks at 2 related topics, ‘Britain, 1815 - 1915 and Germany 1880. This course includes areas of study such as, repression and reform in Britain as well as change and continuity in the development of Modern Germany.
At AS level there are two written exams.
At A2 level there are one written exam and a ‘Personal Study’.

Units at A2
3 British State and People, 1965 - 1915 4 A personal study of the students choice.
Coursework details
A ‘Personal Study’ at A2. The issue to be investigated is developed from an introductory course of study based on the economic modernisation of Germany.
Coursework is 20% of the full A Level.
What are the skills required to start the course?
Skills of analysis and enquiry are essential. The ability to form reasoned judgements.
GCSE entry requirements
Students are generally expected to have achieved at least a grade B or above in History.
A grade B or above in English would also be recommended.
Possible Career Pathways
Business, Journalism, Education, Law, Libraries and Museums Management. Many employers recognise and appreciate the general skills and knowledge afforded by a History qualification.
